Our Supporters

Did you know? The Presbytery of the Mackinac (PCUSA) has been a major supporter since 2011, paying much of our overhead. Local churches such as Portage Lake United Church, Houghton, and Bethany Lutheran, Mohawk, have stepped up to support us too. Thank you to all the faith based organizations that assist us in the community. In addition, we have received small grants from Aspirus Auxiliary, Copper Shores Community Health Foundation, Keweenaw Area Community Foundation, Portage Health Auxiliary, and Walmart Community Grant. A big thank you to all of the granting organizations for their support of our community.

The Trash Test

We receive generous donations of housewares and clothing. Most are in nice condition and perfect for the store. Some….not so much. Please use the trash test to determine if something is suitable for donation — Would you wear the clothing or exhibit the item in your house with pride? Is the item safe to use? — If the item does not pass the test, please do not donate it. We do not accept large furniture/appliances, medical or ambulation devices, old TVs, or anything that is too large to put out on the floor. Donations that we cannot use cost us money to discard. Thank you!

Note: the “Our Supporters” and “Trash Test” blocks lived in the Wix site-wide footer. In WordPress, consider moving them into the theme footer (a template part or reusable block) instead of this page.
